It’s important to find a photographer whose images you love, of course! But another HUGE element to choosing your photographer is making sure you're going to feel comfortable with them. My hope is that when you come to my site, you can easily see yourself as one of my clients. We don't have to agree on The Office vs Parks and Rec debate, but I do hope something here resonates with you. When you hire me as your family photographer, you're not just getting a collection of photos. You’re getting my 10 years of practicing photography, my artistic vision, my calming personality and happy attitude, my love for and belief in marriage, letting kids be kids, and loving them for who they are, my editing time, and an overall wonderful experience that adds to the beauty of your session! When you look back at your images, you won’t just see what happened there, but you’ll FEEL the emotions all over again.
My sessions usually last up to 1 hour, but I largely base our time together on how your children are holding up! We'll take breaks as needed to make sure they stay happy and enjoying the process. If they're old enough and comfortable with me, I may take them aside for individual portraits. Or give them space to run around while we focus on you and your spouse. Sometimes parents assume I "didn't get any good ones" but I can guarantee you I will get what I need and more!
This is a great question! I will send an email to you with more in-depth outfit advice, but for now just know this:
For ladies: Long dresses + skirts photograph better than short, and we have less to worry about (if you know what I mean)
For guys: Button-ups look best, and I ask that you don't wear t-shirts with graphics or text on them
For kids, we want them looking nice but not so much that they don't feel like themselves or are constantly fidgeting in their outfits. Sometimes it's easiest to start with Mom's outfit, and base the kids' clothes off of that! In the end, your clothes will be the last thing you notice (that's my goal anyway!)
I love shooting at sunrise or 1-2 hours before sunset. However, I know this isn't always possible, especially with young children, and I'm well-equipped to make ANY time of day look dang good. I suggest choosing a time that you know your kids will be happiest, taking into account meals and naptime! I also save Saturdays for weddings and Sundays for family. You can check with me on my Saturday availability, but weekday evenings are more often free than Saturdays!
Send me an email! I send out a digital contract to your email and ask for a $100 non-refundable reservation fee to hold your date! Please remember all packages are subject to 7.25% sales tax.
We can also schedule a time to chat on the phone and go over any remaining questions you might have, or just to make sure we will be a good fit!
I love delivering my client's files quickly and easily via an online gallery. Both film and digital images will be uploaded into a seamless portfolio. You will have the ability to print, share, and download your images as much as you want. You can expect 50+ images in your gallery.
Because I incorporate film into my sessions, I shoot and edit with a clean, true-to-life color in mind. Bright & colorful, I love to also incorporate the sun, wind, natural elements, and all the details that make up your interactions with each other.
We’ll meet at a big field drenched in the glow of sunset and run through the tall grass. Or maybe I’ll come to you in your home and we’ll dance in your kitchen. We’ll go wherever your family feels safe, whole, and free. We’ll get all the usual everyone-look-here-and-smile shots, but we’ll also get those intimate, real shots too. You’ll play and laugh and love, and you’ll forget you were ever once worried about coordinating outfits.
